I’ve been quietly making a lot of changes behind the scenes lately.
But first, a look back.
In 2016 I bought an Airstream, became a full-time RVer, and loved everything about it. In 2021, I decided to take a sabbatical from the work I had been doing, and got trained as a Certified RV Technician through the National RV Training Academy (NRVTA), started an RV tank cleaning business called Royal Flush RV, and developed a training program to train other techs to clean tanks. Then I became a TA and later an instructor at NRVTA.
As much as I loved RV life, I noticed that I was starting to step back from it, one small step at a time. First, I sold my Airstream and settled into this gorgeous little gem of an area in Athens, Texas.
At the end of 2025, when NRVTA transferred to new owners, it felt like the right time to step out of my role of instructor at the school. I continued running Royal Flush RV for a while longer, but I also knew from the very beginning that it was never meant to be a forever business for me. I had always imagined doing it for about 4–5 years, and this year I realized I had reached that point.
I just didn’t know what was next.
But I’ve made enough major changes in my life to know that often, I first need to let go of what I’m currently doing before the new thing will show up, and that’s exactly what happened.
I quietly informed my training members of my decision to close down Royal Flush RV, and within a couple of days, the next step showed up. It was a complete surprise, and yet it didn’t really feel like a surprise at all.
The timing was so immediate and so clear that I paid attention.
I’ve spent the last 20 years studying food, health, and lifestyle. I’ve read hundreds of books over those years. I’ve been more and more involved in local food here in Texas: beef ranches, dairy farms, produce stands right down the road, milling grain to make my own bread, farmer’s markets. I’ve seen food completely change people’s health.
So when a book called Eat by Faith showed up in my social media feed, I immediately looked into it. Turns out, the book wasn’t even available yet. So I found the author online, read about her background, and realized that she was trained in exactly what I wanted to do next, without me even knowing it: Nutritional Therapy Practitioner.
So I’m back in school, taking classes in anatomy and physiology, nutrition, sleep, stress and cortisol, regulating blood sugar, and in the words of the Nutritional Therapy Association, ” reversing the trend of preventable poor health”.
Oh, and the icing on the cake? A couple of days after I enrolled, my good friend and colleague Brenda Puckett asked if she could purchase Royal Flush and continue building it forward. That was an easy yes; Brenda is someone I know well, trust deeply, and have worked alongside for years through NRVTA. I’ve watched her teach, lead, build businesses, and genuinely care about helping people succeed. There is no one I would feel better about passing the baton to, and I’m excited about the plans Brenda already has for Royal Flush RV moving forward.
I’m still in the early stages of this next chapter, but I’ll be sharing more of the journey here: what I’m learning, what I’m questioning, what’s changing, and what I’m discovering along the way.
More to come.
